Driftwood Eco-tours

New Zealand Nature and Heritage Tours

You will love seeing New Zealand nature on an award winning tour by kayak, walking and vehicle, exploring the wildlife and human history of the Marlborough region, in particular the Wairau Lagoon. This is a place of great spiritual significance, being the site of the first known human occupation in New Zealand. It is also a place of great natural beauty.  The lagoons are home to over 92 species of New Zealand birds, including the magnificent royal spoonbill.

Kayak Tours with Driftwood Retreat & Eco Tours

Driftwood's experienced guides will tell you stories of the people who settled here and help you identify the wildlife as you explore the lagoon area. As part of our commitment to conservation for every tour we take we plant a tree in our protected eight hectare wetland, adjacent to our home.

High Country Tours

Tours into the magnificent Marlborough and Canterbury high country, including our annual alpine flora tours to the Molesworth station, are also a popular option.

Personalised Tours

We specialise in bespoke or specialised tours for small groups and individuals. Let us know your interests, time frame and fitness and we can design a tour for you and your alone.

New Zealand Retreat Accommodation

The retreat accommodation is situated on the edge of our peaceful wetland looking out through the trees.  In keeping with the natural environment the architecturally designed building features authentic New Zealand touches using recycled indigenous timbers in a surprising yet functional style.

Our Environmental Practices

We love nature, we plant one tree for every tour taken to offset our carbon footprint. We own and manage an eight hectare wetland which is home to a variety of birds. These are just two of our environmental polices.

Where We Are And Things To Do

We are only a 10 minute drive from Blenheim and close to renowned local vineyards.  Blenheim Airport and the Picton ferry terminal are less than 30 minutes away.  Local attractions such as the Marlborough Sounds and Kaikoura Whale watching are also in close proximity providing many sightseeing options.  You can also enjoy our fun and exclusive experiences with us during your stay.

We are happy to give you tips on things to do in New Zealand. We look forward to meeting you!
